El Yassmin Ferguson, Born and raised in Mainz, Germany.Ms. Ferguson is a Moroccan who is fluent in several languages, to include fluent German and Arabic. Ms. Ferguson is a highly spiritual and recognized community activist, with great relationships with members in the DC youth community. As a strong advocate for various gun violence organizations, she is a recognized speaker and has been asked to speak at events in New York. Ms. Ferguson is a mother who has lost a son to gun violence in September of 2019, and has dedicated her life to helping families who have gone through gun violence experiences.
Ms. Ferguson is a Program Analyst with the Department of Defense. Her passion is to support and advocate for the youth and young adults who struggle with mental health, teen pregnancy or life challenges, to help guide them to resources and various programs that will help them manage life and survival skills. Ms. Ferguson has been a resident in the District of Colimbia for more that 20 years, primarily in Ward 8.
Ms. Ferguson is married to JB Bazemore, and has 2 sons
